Through Akro you can reach the famous red beach, which is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Santorini. It is located 12 km south west of the capital Fira and only a few steps away from the ancient site of Akrotiri. It has black and red volcanic pebbles and relaxing warm water. As you gradually walk down to the beach you will be impressed by the different colorings of the volcanic cliffs that create a tremendous scenery.

Red beach has a rare scenery, a unique color and enormous volcanic rocks situated in the sea, small pebbles and sand of red color all mixed up together with dark blue crystal clear waters. Arguably one of the most photographed beaches in the world is a mesmerizing wonder one should visit if in Santorini island. A rare sight and beautiful setting. However please note that red beach is temporarily closed to the public to due to landslides and rock falls. The best way to visit red beach is through Akro effortlessly and completely safe as you need to come to Akro get the taxi boat from Akro (every 20 minutes) and visit by boat.

You can leave your belongings in Akro and walk down to the shore to bask under the warm sun or dive in the crystal clear water.

This is a famous beach in Santorini island the small size of the beach creates a crowded atmosphere and not an easy climb at all. You can admire this unique landscape of red and black volcanic rocks from the headland or from a boat.

The best thing to do is to come to Akro by car, leave your car at our free parking, get a sunbed lock your belongings on the safe box, get the taxi boat do a beach hopping trip of a couple of hours and get back to Akro for lunch.

White and red beach are semi organized no toilet(in white beach) which means its quite hard to spend a whole day but it is most worth to visit for a quick swim.

It’s a great quick trip with toddles too, but would not recommend this if you have a baby.
